Recently was the one year anniversary of my blog...and this is only the fifth post! Hopefully I can get this blog up and running again. I took a visit to DC today with my main focus on the Smithsonian Museums and Gardens. However, my attention quickly changed to butterflies, so most of my photos turned out accordingly! I highly recammend the Natural History Museum's indoor butterfly habitat. It is just incredible. The children were just amazed that the butterflies would land on them and others! Be sure to wear bright colors as the butterflies are attracted to them. They fly etremely close and are everywhere so be sure you aren't affraid of bugs or atleast butterflies! Recammended eating in DC; Old Ebbitt Grill and The District ChopHouse.

Patterns
Lately I've been eyeing dresses with quirky, interesting patterns. Here are a few outfits I came up with to show. To me, it's something one-of-a-kind that you wouldn't catch many others wearing, and I'm always looking for clothing like that. And besides, you'd always feel cheery wearing one of these bold, unusual prints!

Tulle Headband
I'm a HUGE fan of headbands, especially ones with little fabric flowers. I decided to buy a simple, black, metal band and fashion something out of the fabric or ribbon to glue on. I finally picked some red tulle to make a sort of flower and some small buttons to make a center. Here's how it turned out!

Cocoa
Cocoa, our little Australian Shepherd puppy, turned four today! Even though I'm sure she really doesn't know the difference between today and any other day, me and my brother decided to take her to the beach. We ran and splashed with her and she rolled in the sand. And when she came home she STILL wanted to play!
This is what happened when she one day decided to eat the buttons off my sock monkey slippers...
Here's Cocoa when she was a baby. I believe at this picture we got her yesterday...
Here is Cocoa and me now...
And here is Gigi and Cocoa!

Butterflies and Bows
Today, me and Gigi decided to take some photos of some of our most recent D.I.Y's. I had an old, vintage chair at my writing desk that was looking pretty shabby so we sanded, spray painted, and hand painted it with pink polka dots to freshen it up. We also made a jewelry holder out of a clothes hanger for all of our earrings and broaches. A few months back I made a crazy hat with all of my favorite things...it's VERY hard (but just as fun) to wear!
The wind was blowing so hard that the purple butterfly decided to fly away (which would be why I'm laughing!)
